Miami, Florida – Authorities are on the hunt for a gunman responsible for a shooting in a Miami neighborhood that resulted in the death of one man and left another critically injured. The incident took place in a driveway on Northeast 77th Court, near First Court, where 35-year-old Robin Fernandez was fatally shot and 32-year-old David Pichinte was wounded.
Witnesses reported that multiple shots were fired in the driveway around 12:30 a.m. on Friday. Marlon Castro Martinez, Fernandez’s cousin and a relative of Pichinte, recounted the harrowing event, stating that a man with a gun opened fire after a verbal altercation. Surveillance footage captured the sound of gunfire, and City of Miami Police responded to the scene following ShotSpotter alerts.
According to Castro Martinez, the shooter approached the group, asking for a beer, and became agitated when denied. He then brandished a gun, prompting everyone to flee the scene. The gunman pursued them, eventually firing six shots at Fernandez and two shots at Pichinte. Fernandez succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Pichinte was rushed to Jackson Medical Center’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
Authorities are seeking a suspect described as a 17 to 18-year-old individual, with detectives conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area. The incident has left the neighborhood residents fearful, with concerns about the suspect’s potential presence in the area.
