PHOENIX — A 71-year-old man is recovering thanks to the quick actions of two bystanders who intervened during a violent assault while he was out walking his dog. The incident, which occurred last Saturday, left Jeff Zimmerman with significant injuries, prompting his family to express profound gratitude for the strangers’ lifesaving efforts.
Zimmerman was attacked by an individual on a bicycle, resulting in severe head trauma, multiple fractures, and injuries to his right eye. These challenges are particularly hard for him, as he is already battling a brain tumor requiring ongoing treatment. Despite the critical nature of his condition, his family remains hopeful.
Kiera Zimmerman, Jeff’s daughter, praised her father as “the most loving guy” and “the strongest person I’ve met in my life.” She described the timely intervention of the two strangers as a pivotal moment that altered the course of her father’s life. “The fact that they were at the right place and right time is truly an act of God,” she said. “He’s alive today because of those two heroes.”
After sustaining his injuries, Zimmerman spent four days in the intensive care unit before being moved to a trauma unit for further care. His family, though grappling with the aftermath of the attack, is focused on his recovery. “I’m just so thankful that he’s alive,” Kiera stated, emphasizing their resilience amid the situation.
