The young girl’s life was cut short by a boy her same age, who claimed that he thought the AR-15-style rifle he was handling was not loaded.
Basil’s untimely death occurred on a Saturday, just hours after she had celebrated her high school graduation in Franklin, Tennessee. A harrowing 911 call sent emergency responders rushing to the scene, where Basil was being transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her right shoulder.
