Hoodlums Leave One Dead, Two Police Injured in Violent Kano Attack

Kano, Nigeria – A violent incident unfolded in the Jaen Makera neighborhood of Kano, resulting in the tragic death of Muktar Garba and injuries to two police officers. Outgoing Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, confirmed the attack in a phone interview on Thursday, shedding light on the turmoil that engulfed the area.

Muktar Garba, also known as Babalia, lost his life at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, with his body now handed over to his family for burial. Despite the presence of law enforcement, armed individuals launched a brutal assault on innocent civilians, prompting the swift deployment of additional police reinforcement to restore peace in the community.

Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice for their senseless actions. Gumel revealed that clashes between rival groups of hoodlums occurred in Yan Dillalai and Jaen Makera, leading to violent confrontations eventually quelled by law enforcement intervention. The injured police officers, Wasilu Umar and Abdulmalik Yusif, received necessary medical treatment and have been discharged from the hospital.

One suspect, Umar Shuaibu, has been arrested in connection with the attack on Officer Yusif, with reported damage to a vehicle linked to Filin Hockey. The state police command is actively addressing the underlying causes of violence to ensure sustainable peace and safety for all residents affected by the recent unrest.

Gumel reaffirmed that the situation has stabilized, with heightened police presence in the area to deter any further disturbances. The authorities are determined to uphold law and order, working towards a peaceful coexistence within the community. The focus remains on preventing future conflicts and maintaining a secure environment for everyone.
