Houston Shooting Victim’s Mother Seeks Justice for Son’s Unsolved Murder

Houston, Texas – A year has passed since the tragic death of 22-year-old Javon Frazier following a shooting in Midtown on June 18, 2023. The Houston Police Department reported that the incident took place at 2121 Main Street around 11 p.m. that night, with the perpetrator still at large.

Frazier’s mother, Claudette Malone, shared her heartbreak over the loss of her son in an interview with ABC13 from Virginia. She expressed a desire for answers and closure regarding the circumstances surrounding her son’s untimely death.

According to Malone, Frazier was residing in Houston at the time of the shooting but had plans to return to his family in Virginia. He was tragically killed while walking home from the gym that fateful night, succumbing to multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and extremities as confirmed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

In addition to Frazier’s death, another man was also shot during the incident but managed to survive. Despite initial descriptions of the suspect wearing a black hoodie and dark shorts, authorities have not released further details about the case or the individual responsible for the shooting.

Malone expressed her frustration at the lack of progress in the investigation, highlighting her concerns about the suspect potentially harming others if not apprehended. She emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for her son’s death accountable and ensuring justice is served.

After reaching out to HPD without significant updates since January, Malone received a call from a lieutenant indicating that a suspect had been identified, and the investigation was ongoing. Malone remains determined to see the perpetrator behind bars to prevent any further harm to other families in the community.
