Intersection Shooting in Sumter Leaves Driver Dead and Passenger Injured – Police Seek White Sedan Driver

Sumter, South Carolina – A tragic incident unfolded in Sumter on Monday morning, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old driver and leaving a 28-year-old passenger injured. The authorities were alerted to the intersection of Green Swamp Road and South Guignard Drive following reports of shots fired around 7:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, Sumter Police discovered both the driver and passenger had sustained gunshot wounds. Sadly, the driver, whose identity has not been disclosed to the public, was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured passenger was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention and is anticipated to recover from their injuries, according to law enforcement officials.

The victims were found in close proximity to where their vehicle had crashed. As per the preliminary investigation, the victims’ vehicle had come to a stop at a traffic signal along Green Swamp Road when a white sedan pulled up and opened fire. Subsequently, the white sedan fled the scene towards South Guignard Drive, leaving behind a scene of devastation and confusion.
