Justice Eludes Texas Mother One Month After Daughter’s Tragic Shooting Death

SAN ANTONIO – A grieving mother is pleading for clarity as she navigates the aftermath of her daughter’s tragic death, a month after the shooting incident that claimed the life of 25-year-old Zierra Dawn Torres. The young woman suffered multiple fatal gunshot wounds in a dispute that has left her family and community searching for answers.

On December 10, Torres was fatally shot at an apartment complex situated off Northeast Loop 410 near Perrin Beitel Road. Following the incident, police detained several individuals for questioning, but no arrests have been reported since. Lesa Grimmitt, Torres’ mother, expressed her frustration with the lack of communication and updates from law enforcement.

“This is my only daughter. I’ve prayed and hoped for her future,” said Grimmitt. “Not having answers is completely unacceptable.”

Reports indicate that the shooting occurred during an argument between Torres and a man who is 28 years old. Both were allegedly in possession of firearms when the confrontation escalated. While the police confirmed that multiple individuals were questioned on the night of the incident, details surrounding the case remain sparse.

In recent communications, a spokesperson for the San Antonio Police Department stated that no further information could be provided beyond the initial report. This has only intensified Grimmitt’s anguish as she seeks to understand the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death.

“The communication from the detectives has been minimal to none,” she said, highlighting her concern over the lack of progress in the investigation.

Despite her grief, Grimmitt hopes to preserve the memory of her daughter, emphasizing her joyful spirit and loyalty. “Zierra was the funniest person you could ever meet. She was genuine and loved deeply,” she said, as she reflects on the daughter she lost too soon.

As the investigation continues, the family remains committed to advocating for justice and answers. In the face of uncertainty, they seek not only closure but a chance to remember Zierra for the vibrant person she was, rather than the tragedy of her untimely death.
