North Las Vegas, Nevada – Police in North Las Vegas responded to a tragic incident stemming from a domestic dispute that resulted in multiple fatalities. The suspect, identified as Adams, first shot his neighbor before proceeding to the upstairs unit, where he opened fire again, killing the neighbor’s grandmother and mother, and injuring his teenage sister.

After the shootings, Adams took his ex-girlfriend hostage and fled in a vehicle. Fortunately, the woman managed to escape in the early morning and seek help from law enforcement. Subsequently, on Tuesday at 10 a.m., police received information about the suspect being spotted at a business in North Las Vegas. Upon arrival, officers saw the suspect with a firearm, prompting him to run into the backyard of a nearby residence.

Despite officers’ attempts to apprehend the suspect, he refused to surrender and tragically died by suicide. The Clark County coroner’s office later confirmed Adams’s age at the time of death as 48, correcting the initially reported age of 47 by the police department. The victims were identified as Kayla Harris, a 24-year-old graduate student, along with Damiana Moreno, 59, and Amy Damian, 40, who were fatally shot in the upstairs unit. Two other victims remain unidentified.

Kayla Harris, a former college basketball player at Adams State University in Colorado pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, was remembered by the university president, David Tandberg, as a talented and dedicated individual. Tandberg expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a promising young life and the tragic events that unfolded in North Las Vegas.
