Uvalde, Texas – Families of the victims from the tragic Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, have taken legal action against gun manufacturer Daniel Defense, Meta, and Microsoft. On the second anniversary of the devastating incident where 19 children and two teachers lost their lives, a lawsuit was filed by these families seeking justice and accountability.
The lawsuit alleges that the 18-year-old shooter utilized a firearm produced by Daniel Defense during the tragic event. Furthermore, the families claim that Activision Blizzard, linked to Microsoft, promoted assault rifles to young boys through the popular video game Call of Duty, and that Meta’s Instagram platform allowed such marketing to occur. Seeking damages, the families have pursued a wrongful death lawsuit against these companies, highlighting the role they believe each entity played in the tragedy.
In response to inquiries, Meta, Google, and Daniel Defense were contacted by legal representatives in relation to the filed lawsuit. The families are being represented in this legal battle by the law firm Koskoff Koskoff and Bieder, which is also handling another lawsuit against over 90 Texas Department of Safety Officers for alleged delays in intervention. Notably, two officers were arrested for a 77-minute delay on the day of the shooting.
Following recent developments, the families in Uvalde received a $2 million settlement from the city, which also promised enhanced training for law enforcement officers. The funds for the settlement were sourced from the city’s insurance coverage, aiming to provide some relief to the impacted families and address concerns related to the tragic event.
Earlier this year, during a congressional hearing, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg issued an apology to families of teenage users of Instagram for the platform’s impact on their mental health and well-being.
