London High Commission Attack Suspect Arrested by NIA for Unlawful Activities and Violence

London, United Kingdom – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough on Thursday with the arrest of a suspect involved in the violent attack on the High Commission of India in London in March 2023. The arrested individual, identified as Inderpal Singh Gaba, a resident of Hounslow in the UK, was apprehended in Delhi for his alleged participation in unlawful activities during the protests that occurred on March 22, 2023.

According to the NIA, their investigations into the case have uncovered that the incidents in London last year were part of a larger conspiracy to launch attacks on Indian missions and officials. These attacks were reported to be in retaliation to actions taken by the Punjab police against an individual linked to pro-Khalistani separatism on March 18, 2023.

In a previous operation, the NIA conducted searches at various locations associated with individuals suspected of involvement in the attack on the High Commission on March 19, 2023. The attack involved a group of approximately 50 individuals who were accused of trespassing, disrespecting India’s flag, damaging public property, and causing harm to High Commission officials.

The agency previously identified Gurcharan Singh of the Dal Khalsa, Avtar Singh Khanda of the Khalistan Liberation Force (who passed away in June 2023), Jasvir Singh, and their associates – both Indian and foreign nationals – as the organizers of the attack. To gather evidence, a NIA team was sent to the UK in May last year, initiating a “crowdsourcing of information” to identify and collect data on the UK-based entities and individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy.

The arrest of Inderpal Singh Gaba marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the violent attack on the High Commission of India in London. With more information coming to light, the NIA continues to work diligently to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and bring all those responsible to justice.
