The Broward Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Pompano Beach resident Christopher Marc for manslaughter with a firearm in the death of Samyiah James.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred on August 21, 2023, when James was shot in a residential neighborhood on SW 74th Avenue at 10:42 p.m. Deputies attempted life-saving measures before airlifting James to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
An initial investigation by BSO homicide detectives revealed that an argument took place between James and individuals in a vehicle outside a residence on Southwest 12th Court. The situation escalated, leading to James being shot inside the vehicle.
