Man Caught on Camera Assaulting 74-Year-Old in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, NY — Authorities in Brooklyn have released surveillance footage of a man involved in a violent attack on a 74-year-old man earlier this month, seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 3, around 10:20 a.m. in front of 577 Court St. in Red Hook. The unidentified suspect allegedly approached the elderly man and punched him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground. The assailant then fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim with injuries to his head, back, and hand.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) to aid in their investigation.

The release of the surveillance footage is part of an effort to gather more leads and potentially apprehend the suspect responsible for the violent assault.
