Dallas, Texas – A Wingstop employee in Texas has been arrested for allegedly killing his manager and shooting another employee after a heated argument.
Marc Leon, 22, is currently in custody at Dallas County Jail facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the incident that took place on June 3. The Irving Police Department reported that their officers responded to the Wingstop location where Leon and his victims worked at around 7:30 p.m. on that fateful day.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found two men, one deceased and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. Prior to the arrival of the officers, Leon had already fled the scene on foot. However, he was apprehended within 10 minutes of the incident, and a firearm was recovered.
Irving police investigation revealed that Leon engaged in a verbal altercation with the now-deceased employee. The situation escalated when the employee instructed Leon to leave the establishment, prompting Leon to pull out a gun and fatally shoot the victim multiple times. Unfortunately, a second employee sustained minor injuries from stray bullets during the altercation.
Although the police have not publicly identified the employee who lost his life, an arrest affidavit obtained by local news outlet Fox 4 identified him as 19-year-old Christopher Govea, who was the manager of the Wingstop. Govea had reportedly sent Leon home early on the day of the incident. According to Govea’s family, he was a hardworking individual who held multiple jobs to support his family.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover Govea’s funeral expenses, with a fundraising goal of $10,000. The community has already raised over $4,200 in support of the cause.
The tragic event has shaken not only the Wingstop community but also the local residents of Irving, Texas. The loss of a young man’s life under such circumstances has left many questioning the senseless violence that claimed Govea’s life. As the investigation continues, the community seeks justice and closure for the victim and his grieving loved ones.
