Manhunt for Armed and Dangerous Suspect Involved in Violent Kalihi Attack

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Honolulu police are on the lookout for a suspect involved in a violent attack in Kalihi early Saturday, leaving one man with a gunshot wound and another with stab wounds.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Sidney Tafokitau, approached a group near the intersection of Rose and Middle streets around 12:45 a.m. The altercation led to Tafokitau returning to his car, then allegedly driving back to the group and opening fire.

The victims, aged 43 and 50, sustained serious injuries, with one being treated for a gunshot wound to his back and the other for a stab wound to his arm after attempting to intervene.

According to the authorities, Tafokitau was seen fleeing in a 2010 Nissan Altima with the Hawaii license plate WXD 883. He is described as roughly 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 212 pounds. The public is advised not to approach him, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
