Monster 18-Year-Old Sentenced to 7 Years for Violent Rape Attack in Leeds

Leeds, United Kingdom – In a shocking case in Leeds, a young man named Cosmin Burcuta, 18, has been sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for pleading guilty to two counts of rape and one count of assault following a violent attack on a woman on August 1.

The incident occurred when Burcuta, of Airlie Place in Chapeltown, visited the victim at her home in a state of intoxication. His behavior turned aggressive, prompting the victim, who works as a sex worker, to ask him to leave. Instead of leaving, Burcuta proceeded to physically assault the woman, only stopping when she complied with his demands, which ultimately led to her being raped.

Despite initially denying the accusations, Burcuta later admitted to the crimes and appeared before Leeds Crown Court for sentencing. Prosecutor Michael Collins described the brutal nature of the attack, detailing how Burcuta had assaulted the victim, leaving her with a cracked jaw and severe injuries. Additionally, Burcuta verbally abused the victim before leaving her home, leaving her in a state of fear and distress.

Mark Foley, Burcuta’s defense attorney, mentioned that the defendant’s actions were out of character and emphasized his limited English proficiency as a recent immigrant from Romania. However, Judge recorder Jason Pitter condemned Burcuta’s behavior, highlighting the impact it had on the victim’s sense of safety and well-being.

In addition to the prison sentence, Burcuta was also ordered to register with the authorities and issued a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim. The judge’s decision aimed to ensure the victim’s safety and provide justice for the traumatic experience she endured at the hands of Burcuta. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators of violence and assault accountable for their actions.
