Multiple Murders Shock Island Communities Over Weekend

Old Harbour, St. Catherine – At least four people fell victim to murder across the island of Jamaica between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Two of the incidents took place in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, and one in St. Ann.

The most recent incident involved the discovery of the bodies of a male and a female at a house in Old Harbour on Sunday morning. The victims’ names have not been disclosed, but it was reported that residents heard gunshots and alerted the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the bodies in a bed within the house, both with wounds to their upper bodies.

Earlier, on Saturday evening, a fisherman was shot and killed at the Old Harbour Bay fishing village in St. Catherine. The victim was identified as forty-nine-year-old Rohan Kepple, also known as ‘Kanie’ or ‘Ballie’. Residents reported gunshots, prompting a police team on patrol to investigate and discover Kepple’s body with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

In a separate incident in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, a man named Peter James, also known as ‘Coppa’, was stabbed to death at his home on Saturday morning. Allegedly, an argument between James and another man escalated, resulting in James hitting the other man with a stone and the other man retaliating by stabbing James in the chest with a knife. Both men were taken to the hospital, where James succumbed to his injuries, and the other man was treated and released into police custody. The name of the other man involved has been withheld pending further investigations.

The police are currently investigating all of these distressing incidents, as the local communities mourn the loss of these individuals to acts of violence.
