Luxembourg City, Luxembourg – Authorities have charged a man with attempted murder following a shocking incident in which a baby was violently assaulted while in the arms of his mother. The attack took place on the evening of February 5 on Avenue Émile Reuter, sparking widespread concern within the community.
Investigators reported that the suspect, a 35-year-old man without any known ties to the family, approached the mother and child around 10:30 p.m. He unexpectedly struck the baby, estimated to be between eight and nine months old, with a powerful blow to the back of the head. After the attack, the assailant fled the scene, prompting a swift response from the child’s father, who attempted to pursue him.
During the chase, the suspect allegedly brandished a threatening gesture that implied he possessed a weapon, attempting to intimidate the father. The altercation came to an end when police apprehended the man shortly after he sought refuge in a nearby building on Route d’Arlon.
