Murder Charges Filed Against Three Teens in Connection with Shooting Death of Maryland High School Student

Lanham, Maryland – Three additional teenagers face murder charges in connection with the tragic shooting death of 16-year-old Jayda Medrano-Moore. The bright and ambitious high school student was fatally shot near DuVal High School, where she had dreams of pursuing a career in professional basketball.

Initially, a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder shortly after the incident. However, Prince George’s County police recently announced the identification and charging of three more suspects in the case. The suspects are Ramon Richardson, 18, from Lanham; Cameron Anderson, 18, from Landover; and a 17-year-old from Lanham whose name has not been disclosed.

Richardson and Anderson have been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related offenses. The 17-year-old suspect, who is being charged as an adult, is facing a first-degree murder charge. It is unclear at this time if legal representation has been secured for any of the accused.

According to Chief of Police Malik Aziz, the shooting stemmed from a dispute between groups of young individuals, resulting in Medrano-Moore tragically getting caught in the crossfire. She had attempted to mediate the conflict, ultimately losing her life in the process.

The additional suspects were apprehended on Wednesday morning following an intensive investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information regarding the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.

The community is left mourning the loss of a promising young life, with many calling for justice to be served in the wake of this senseless act of violence.
