Murder Charges Filed Against Woman in Birmingham Domestic Violence Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A Brighton woman has been charged with murder after a domestic dispute led to the shooting death of Anson Quandarius Henderson, the father of her sister’s children. Brittney Watson, 26, faces multiple charges, including murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, following Saturday’s fatal incident.

Birmingham police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at a residence located in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North, in the Collegeville area. As officers made their way to the scene, they observed a vehicle leaving the vicinity at high speed and stopped the driver for questioning.

Upon arriving at the house, authorities discovered Henderson unresponsive on the front porch. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, prompting a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the shooting.

Investigators revealed that a confrontation had taken place between Henderson and the mother of his children. Following the heated exchange, she left the home, only for Watson to arrive shortly after in another vehicle. Witnesses reported that Watson then opened fire on Henderson before attempting to flee the neighborhood.

Watson was apprehended a short time later as she attempted to escape the area. Police confirmed that she is the sister of the woman involved in the earlier altercation, further complicating the domestic dynamics surrounding the case.

According to Officer Truman Fitzgerald, Watson will be held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the shooting to come forward.

The incident has left the local community reeling, highlighting the ongoing issues of domestic violence and firearms in Alabama, where incidents of gun violence have surged in recent years. As the investigation unfolds, further details are expected to emerge, shedding more light on the tragic circumstances that led to this loss of life.
