Murder-Suicide Claims Four Lives in San Mateo: Authorities Identify Victims

SAN MATEO, CA – The family of four involved in an apparent murder-suicide has been identified by authorities in San Mateo. The tragedy occurred at their home on Alameda de las Pulgas near 41st Avenue. Anand Sujith Henry, 37, reportedly shot his wife, 38-year-old Alice Priyanka Benziger, before turning the gun on himself. Their twin 4-year-old sons, Nathan and Noah, were also found dead in the house.

Police found the bodies on Monday morning during a welfare check after the family had stopped responding to attempts to contact them. The deaths are believed to have occurred on Feb. 10, as the family had not been in touch since then. There were no signs of forced entry or any other intrusion at the home, according to authorities.

The cause of death for the twin boys has not been determined as they did not show any obvious signs of physical trauma. However, they were not shot, indicating that their deaths may have occurred in a different manner. San Mateo County Coroner’s Office is awaiting pathology test results to determine the cause of their deaths.

Both Henry and Benziger were well-educated professionals. Henry worked as a software engineer and manager at Meta and Google, while Benziger was a data scientist, most recently for Zillow. Their LinkedIn profiles indicate that they both attended Carnegie Mellon University.

Police stated that there were no significant issues or complaints concerning the family, except for a 2020 report of a mountain lion in their yard. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts to seek help from resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, CORA, San Mateo County Mental Health Services, and StarVista.
