Nightclub Accused of Failures in Security Forces City of Atlanta to Seek Shut Down.

Atlanta, Georgia – The city of Atlanta in Georgia is seeking to shut down a popular nightclub on Peachtree Road after a tragic incident that took the lives of two individuals, including a 21-year-old college volleyball player, and left four others injured. The city has filed a complaint alleging that the nightclub, Elleven45 Lounge, is a public nuisance for failing to provide adequate security measures to protect its patrons.

The complaint points to a series of incidents since 2020, including fatal shootings, attempted shootings, stabbings, threats of harm, physical altercations, theft, and disorderly conduct, where the Atlanta Police Department has responded to at least 12 calls for service at the club. One particularly serious incident involved a man armed with an AR-15 rifle and a pistol in his possession during an altercation. The most recent act of violence occurred when a gunman shot and killed a 20-year-old individual after a fight inside the club.

Among the victims of the tragic shooting was Mari Creighton, a talented volleyball player at Albany State University. Sadly, Creighton lost her life in the senseless violence, while her niece, along with three others, survived the ordeal. The devastating impact of the shooting has left family members grieving and seeking justice for the senseless loss of life.

Family members of the victims are calling for the capture of the gunman responsible for the tragedy and emphasize the love and impact that Creighton had on those around her. The City of Atlanta’s efforts to shut down the nightclub highlight the urgent need for establishments to prioritize the safety and well-being of their patrons to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.

Despite reaching out to the owners of the nightclub named in the complaint, there has been no response thus far. The community and authorities are united in their resolve to seek justice for the victims and ensure that measures are taken to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
