Pool Party Shooting Leaves One Dead, Five Injured in Compton Event

Compton, California – A festive pool party in Compton took a tragic turn on Friday night when a shooting incident occurred, resulting in one fatality and five individuals sustaining injuries. The chaotic situation unfolded around 7:50 p.m. at a residence near Mayo Avenue and Greenleaf Boulevard, in close proximity to Compton College.

Authorities reported that amidst the celebratory atmosphere, gunfire erupted, causing around a hundred attendees to scatter and flee the scene, leaving behind their belongings in the panic. Emergency responders discovered a deceased male individual at the premises, although his identity remains undisclosed at this time. Additionally, two men and three women were among those injured in the shooting and were promptly transported to a medical facility for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with a witness recounting the events leading up to the tragic incident. Janice Brayboy, a witness, shared her account stating that her niece, who was present at the gathering, was one of the individuals caught in the crossfire. Brayboy mentioned that a dispute escalated into violence as the party was winding down, resulting in the tragic outcome that unfolded. Her niece underwent surgery following the incident and is currently in recovery.
