SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A disturbing incident involving a former deputy of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has emerged, culminating in a law enforcement shooting following a high-speed chase. This tragic event began on December 2, 2025, when Marvin Morales, 40, allegedly fatally assaulted his 11-year-old son, Mar Aris Untalan Morales, at their home in Elk Grove.
The chilling events unfolded early that morning after the boy’s mother called authorities, expressing concern for her children after witnessing the incident on home surveillance footage. When police arrived at Ferrell Way, they discovered the boy with multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate efforts to render aid, he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
Following the assault, Morales fled, leading to a complex pursuit involving various law enforcement units. Officers detected Morales’ vehicle through license plate scans and initiated a chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. As Morales maneuvered erratically to evade capture, he narrowly avoided slower traffic, prompting officers from an investigative unit to engage.
In the midst of the pursuit, spike strips were deployed in an attempt to disable Morales’ vehicle. However, he managed to evade capture for a time, only to lose control and crash down an embankment, where his vehicle ultimately overturned.
