Rampage in Yarm: Man Jailed for Violent Attack on Ex-Girlfriend’s Partner

Stockton-on-Tees, England – A man in Stockton-on-Tees, England, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a violent attack on his ex-girlfriend’s new partner. Jordan Kelly, 23, went on a rampage at a block of flats in Yarm, where his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend resided. The incident occurred after his seven-year relationship with the woman ended in July 2023.

During the attack, Kelly, who was drunk and armed with a knife, threatened to kill the couple and himself. He physically assaulted the man, punching him, biting him, and holding a knife against his throat. The prosecutor described Kelly as being in a “screaming rage” throughout the incident, which ultimately led to his arrest.

The court heard that Kelly had a history of mentally abusive behavior towards his ex-girlfriend, including taking a knife to bed and threatening to kill her if she moved. His ex-partner described him as “obsessed” and stated that she lived in fear of him. The male victim of the attack expressed genuine fear for his life and suffered significant injuries as a result of the assault.

After being arrested, Kelly continued to exhibit violent behavior by pushing a police officer against a wall and attempting to kick him. He admitted to multiple offenses, including assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of a bladed article, and assaulting an emergency worker. The judge characterized the attack as “prolonged and persistent,” involving a “highly dangerous weapon.”

As part of his sentencing, an indefinite restraining order was imposed to protect both victims from any future harm. Despite the seriousness of the charges against him, Kelly displayed a lack of remorse during the court proceedings, with video evidence showing him rolling his eyes, shaking his head, and smirking while victim statements were read aloud.
