Doylestown, Pennsylvania – Two truck drivers from Michigan are facing charges in connection to the violent robbery of a comic book store in Bucks County in September 2022. 22-year-old Zackery Maximus Tucker and 35-year-old Caleb James-Lorenze Simpson are accused of attacking the owner of Comic Collection in the Feasterville section of Lower Southampton Township.
Tucker, who was arraigned on Monday, faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and other related charges. He is currently being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility under $300,000 bail, 10%. On the other hand, Simpson is in custody in Michigan and will be extradited to Pennsylvania.
The incident took place just before 5 p.m. on Sept. 18, 2022, when the two suspects went into the store pretending to be legitimate customers. They approached the owner asking for help with merchandise on a high shelf. Subsequently, they knocked the owner off a ladder, beat him, tied him up, and threatened him with a knife before stealing various items from the store.
The victim, a 61-year-old man, suffered injuries including contusions, lacerations, and broken ribs. Investigators found clothing worn by the suspects around the store, which was sent to the Pennsylvania State Police crime lab for analysis. Surveillance cameras captured one suspect removing his hat and sweatshirt, revealing a distinctive forearm tattoo that helped identify him.
A tip to the Lower Southampton Police Department in December 2023 led to the identification of Simpson and Tucker as the suspects behind the robbery. Simpson had been previously arrested in Michigan for attempting to steal a firearm. Investigations by the police and Pennsylvania State Police crime lab confirmed Simpson’s connection to the robbery in February 2024.
The violent nature of the robbery and the injuries sustained by the victim have raised concerns in the community. The swift action taken by law enforcement in identifying and apprehending the suspects highlights the importance of effective collaboration between different agencies in solving such crimes.
