Round Rock Teen Arrested in Connection with Fatal Juneteenth Shooting Incident

ROUND ROCK, Texas – A teenager has been arrested in connection with the tragic shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Old Settlers Park, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuring several others. The Round Rock Chief of Police announced the arrest of 17-year-old Ricky Thompson III, who is facing a charge of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently held in the Williamson County Jail.

Authorities believe Thompson was involved in a shooting incident that took place at the park where two innocent women lost their lives. The victims were identified as Lyndsey Vicknair, an attorney from Mansfield, Texas, and Ara Duke, an educator from Austin. Additionally, as many as 14 bystanders were injured in the gunfire.

Police disclosed that Thompson was wearing a white hoodie at the time of the shooting, confirming that more arrests and charges are expected as the investigation continues. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a dispute between two groups attending the Juneteenth celebration.

Families of the victims were informed of Thompson’s arrest, with the Vicknair family expressing gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case. They urged those responsible for the shooting to turn themselves in to authorities. Meanwhile, arrangements are being made for a private wake in Mansfield for Lyndsey Vicknair, followed by a celebration of life.

Authorities have remained tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation to safeguard its integrity. However, they are working diligently to bring justice for the victims and hold those responsible for the tragic event accountable.
