San Fernando Police Seek Attacker Who Stole Woman’s Purse After Flower Shopping

San Fernando, California – Police are on the lookout for a suspect who violently attacked a woman in San Fernando earlier this week, stealing her purse as she was returning home after buying flowers for her mother. The incident took place on Monday around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Park Avenue, according to Lt. Walter Dominguez of the San Fernando Police Department.

The victim, Juliana Murillo, recounted being pushed to the ground by the assailant as she was heading back to her apartment with flowers for her mother’s birthday. Despite her efforts to hold onto her purse, the perpetrator managed to overpower her and flee the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured the harrowing assault, showing Murillo struggling with the attacker. Dominguez emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant despite the time of day, advising individuals to prioritize personal safety over belongings in threatening situations.

In an effort to apprehend the suspect, law enforcement authorities are utilizing a Flock Camera license plate recognition system. This technology aids in identifying vehicles potentially involved in criminal activities, assisting investigators in narrowing down leads and progressing with the case.

Dominguez urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the San Fernando Police Detective Bureau at 818-898-1261. The community’s cooperation is crucial in ensuring the swift capture and prosecution of the perpetrator, as law enforcement remains dedicated to resolving the case and delivering justice for the victim.
