San Mateo Family Tragedy: Father’s Suicide Shooting Resulted in Murder of Mother and Twin Sons

SAN MATEO, California – Authorities have identified the family of four who died in an apparent murder-suicide this past week in San Mateo. The father, Anand Sujith Henry, shot his wife, Alice Priyanka Benziger, before taking his own life, according to San Mateo police. The couple’s twin 4-year-old sons, Nathan and Noah, were also found dead in the house.

The bodies of the couple were discovered on Monday morning after police were summoned to conduct a welfare check at the home. Benziger had multiple gunshot wounds, while Henry had been shot once. The coroner’s office is still determining the cause of death for the twin boys, as they were not shot and showed no obvious signs of physical trauma.

There were no signs of forced entry or any other intrusion at the home, according to the police. Although the bodies were found on Monday, it is likely that the deaths occurred two days earlier on February 10, as some family members had stopped responding to attempts to contact them around that time.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but authorities stated that they had no significant history of responding to the home, other than a 2020 report involving a mountain lion in the yard.

Henry, who worked as a software engineer and manager at Meta and Google, and Benziger, a data scientist for Zillow, were both graduates of Carnegie Mellon University. The couple’s LinkedIn profiles also revealed that Benziger had a master’s degree in data science from the University of San Francisco.
