Security Failures Lead to Violent Attack on High School Basketball Players

Charleston, South Carolina – A lawsuit has been filed by the family of a student from Ashley Ridge High School against the Charleston County School District, Dorchester County School District Two, and Event Staff Services following an alleged violent incident at a basketball game.

According to the lawsuit, the student and her teammates were participating in a basketball game at Stall High School on January 24, 2023, when they were reportedly attacked by students from Stall High School. The legal complaint claims that prior to the game, both school districts were aware of potential risks of violence and security concerns.

Event Staff Services had been contracted to provide security during the game, with court documents indicating a need for adequate security measures to mitigate known risks. The lawsuit alleges that on the day of the incident, Event Staff Services were absent, leaving the student and her teammates vulnerable to the attack in the absence of proper security.

The lawsuit further alleges that the Charleston County School District was negligent in ensuring adequate security measures for the game, leading to the violent assault on the student. Dorchester County School District Two is also accused of failing to supervise and protect the student and her fellow players.

In response to the lawsuit, Dorchester County School District Two stated that they do not comment on pending litigation, while the Charleston County School District mentioned that their legal team is reviewing the lawsuit and will address the issues as necessary.

The student involved reportedly suffered significant injuries and incurred medical expenses as a result of the attack. The lawsuit seeks to hold the school districts and Event Staff Services accountable for the alleged lack of security measures that resulted in harm to the student and her teammates.

The incident highlights the importance of ensuring adequate security measures at school events to protect students and prevent violence. As the legal process unfolds, the family of the student involved will seek justice and accountability for what transpired on that fateful day at the basketball game.
