Self-Defense Shooting Kills Woman in Rock Hill Altercation

Rock Hill, South Carolina – A fatal altercation in Rock Hill, South Carolina resulted in the death of a woman on Wednesday afternoon. The incident, which escalated into a shooting, has been deemed an act of self-defense, with the man who fired the fatal shot not facing charges, according to the Rock Hill police.

Authorities responded to the scene on Riverwalk Parkway near Cel River Road at approximately 3:10 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest. The altercation involved two co-workers from a nearby business, whereby the female co-worker, accompanied by an acquaintance, confronted the male co-worker as he tried to leave the area in his vehicle.

Reportedly, the female co-worker used her car to block the man’s vehicle in traffic, before approaching his passenger side window and drawing a gun. In response, the man drew his own firearm and fired a fatal shot. Following the shooting, the acquaintance allegedly assaulted the man before leaving the scene. The female co-worker was later pronounced dead at Piedmont Medical Center.

Authorities recovered two handguns from the scene and charged the acquaintance with assault and battery. Rock Hill police announced that the male co-worker would not face charges as the shooting was deemed an act of self-defense. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
