Shooting: 18-Year-Old Mistakes Passing Motorist for Feud Target, Faces Murder Charge

Dallas, Texas – An 18-year-old is facing a murder charge after admitting to shooting at a passing motorist in a case of mistaken identity. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning in The Woods area of Dallas.

According to information obtained from an arrest warrant affidavit, the alleged shooter, identified as Terron Moore, believed the passing motorist was someone he had an ongoing feud with. As a result, he opened fire, mistakenly hitting a 17-year-old who was sitting in the backseat of a nearby vehicle. The 17-year-old later succumbed to his injuries.

Dallas police responded to a call about gunshots on Pineberry Road and found that no one in the passing vehicle was injured. However, Christopher Wells, who was with the group that included Moore before the incident, was shot. Despite being rushed to a nearby emergency room, Wells did not survive.

Moore was taken into custody by Dallas County and was held on a $1 million bond. It remains unclear whether he has legal representation. During the investigation, Moore confessed to police that he believed the group he was with was being targeted in a drive-by shooting.

Surveillance footage captured the shooting, showing Moore firing in the direction of the vehicle’s backseat where Wells was seated. The vehicle used to transport Wells was recovered by authorities, showing multiple bullet holes. Moore identified himself in the video when questioned by police.

The community is left mourning the loss of the 17-year-old victim as the investigation into the tragic incident continues.
