Shooting at Family-Owned Linen Company Near Philadelphia Leaves 2 Dead and 3 Injured, Suspect Charged with Murder

Chester, Pennsylvania – A tragic shooting at a linen company near Philadelphia has resulted in two fatalities and three others injured. Wilbert Rosado-Ruiz, 61, faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and a firearms offense for what authorities have termed a “cold-blooded” attack. The incident unfolded at Delaware County Linen in Chester, a family-owned business specializing in linen rental and laundering services. The shooting is believed to have arisen from a dispute between Rosado-Ruiz and a female colleague, though specifics of the disagreement remain unclear.

Among the casualties were two brothers, Leovanny Pena Pena and Giguenson Pena Pena, who lost their lives, while the female colleague and two others sustained injuries. Despite the tragic outcome, two of the wounded individuals are in stable condition, with one listed as critical but stable. Discussing the incident at a news conference, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer expressed dismay over the frequency of shootings in America, emphasizing the tragic nature of the event that unfolded in Chester.

The shooting transpired around 8:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement as they arrived at a scene described as chaotic by Chester Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky. Surveillance footage captured Rosado-Ruiz engaging in a verbal altercation with the female employee before returning with a firearm and opening fire. Stollsteimer noted the methodical manner in which Rosado-Ruiz moved through the business premises, targeting his victims. Upon fleeing the scene, Rosado-Ruiz was apprehended by a Trainer, Pennsylvania officer who identified his vehicle based on a description.

Notably, Rosado-Ruiz, the legal owner of the firearm used in the incident, did not possess a license to carry a concealed weapon, leading to additional charges. The shooting at the linen company underscores the prevalence of workplace violence in the country, with experts highlighting the significant number of mass shootings reported in 2024. Incidents like these serve as a grim reminder of the dangers that can arise from disputes or conflicts in workplace settings, contributing to the overall statistics of workplace-related fatalities and injuries.

As investigations into the shooting continue, the community grapples with the aftermath of the tragedy and seeks to find solace and justice for the victims and their families.
