Shooting at Sydney Home of Mother and Young Children Believed to be Targeting Wrong Address

SYDNEY, Australia – An innocent family in Merrylands, Sydney’s west, found themselves caught in the crossfire of a violent attack early on Saturday morning. According to local police, the shooting at the home of a mother and her four young children is believed to be a case of mistaken identity, with the intended target having moved out of the residence months earlier.

The perpetrators allegedly fired multiple bullets into the house before 3:30 am, leaving the mother in her 30s and the children deeply shaken. Superintendent Simon Glasser of the Cumberland Police Area Command described the incident as a “highly reckless and violent attack on an innocent family.” He emphasized that the family currently residing in the house was not the intended target – someone else known to the police was.

Shortly after the shooting, authorities responded to a report of a car set ablaze on Chiswick Street in South Granville, just minutes away from the targeted home. CCTV footage revealed a silver or grey Nissan X-Trail present at both the shooting and the car fire, indicating a potential connection between the two incidents.

Superintendent Glasser stated that the two individuals believed to be responsible for the attack fled the scene on foot, disappearing into bushland heading towards Auburn. Despite ongoing efforts, law enforcement has yet to locate the suspects. The investigation into the shooting and the arson continues as police work to identify and apprehend those responsible for endangering the innocent family.
