Lauderhill, Florida — A tragic shooting early Sunday morning claimed the life of a woman and left another individual injured, according to local police. The incident unfolded on Northwest 38th Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two women with gunshot wounds. Tragically, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other received treatment for injuries deemed non-life-threatening at Broward Health Medical Center. As of now, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
Family members of the deceased shared that she had traveled from Bradenton to celebrate her relative’s birthday. The witness described the chaotic moments that unfolded when the shots rang out, saying, “We were standing here when they started shooting. It came from across the street.”
The woman’s cousin recounted how she attempted to save her amid the chaos but fell and injured her ankle while running. “I was trying to help her, but the bullets were coming so fast,” she explained, showing her swollen ankle to news cameras.
Describing the shooter, the cousin indicated that he appeared to be a young man, casually walking by before he began firing. As the community grapples with the aftermath of the shooting, she has made a heartfelt appeal for anyone with information to step forward.
