West Sacramento, Calif. — A shooting early Thursday morning resulted in the death of one individual, according to local police. The incident transpired shortly after 1 a.m. on the 1400 block of West Capitol Avenue.
Officers responding to the scene discovered a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the site of the shooting.
Authorities have reported that they do not believe this shooting is connected to another incident that occurred approximately two and a half hours later. That second shooting took place near Kensington Street and Essex Avenue, where one individual was injured. Police stated that the victim from this later incident is currently in stable condition.
While the investigation is ongoing, law enforcement has opted not to release additional details in order to maintain the integrity of both cases.
