ELK GROVE, Calif. — A shooting early Sunday morning at Z Town Gastro Bar has left one teenager dead and three others injured, marking a tragic moment for a community grappling with gun violence. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. along Elk Grove Florin Road.
The victim has been identified as Kim Kha Huynh, an 18-year-old from Chino Hills, which lies approximately 30 miles east of Los Angeles. According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that in addition to Huynh, three other male patrons sustained gunshot wounds. One of the injured individuals remains in critical condition, while the other two are expected to survive. At least one victim was able to drive himself to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with police quickly responding to the bar following reports of gunfire. The Elk Grove Police Department disclosed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Huynh and the suspect, 43-year-old Roderick Randall of Sacramento. The exact nature of the relationship between Randall and the victims is unclear at this time.
Randall is currently at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Elk Grove Police Department or local crime stoppers.
In a related development, 25-year-old Thao Tran, identified as Randall’s girlfriend, was taken into custody on Tuesday. She faces charges as an accessory to the shooting and is being held without bail. Tran is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court later this week.
This incident follows a disturbing trend of violence in public spaces across California, raising concerns among residents about safety while socializing. Community leaders and law enforcement are calling for increased vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activity to help address the underlying issues contributing to such acts of violence.
