HAMMOND, La. — A shooting early Monday morning has left one man dead and two others wounded, including a young child, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on North Morrison Boulevard. Officers with the Hammond Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and discovered three victims at the scene. Police identified the deceased as 23-year-old Bradley Blunt, who succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital. The conditions of the remaining victims, a toddler and another individual, are reported to be stable and not life-threatening.
Janvourian Franklin, also 23 and a resident of Hammond, has been named as the principal suspect in the shooting. Police apprehended him as he sought medical treatment for a gunshot wound at a nearby hospital. His sister, 20-year-old Demetriane Anderson, was also taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Charges against Franklin include first-degree murder and multiple counts of attempted murder, alongside allegations of illegal firearm discharge. Anderson faces similar charges as an accessory to the alleged crimes.
