Shooting in Katy Area Leaves Couple Dead; Authorities Seek Public’s Help in Ongoing Investigation

KATY, Texas — A couple found fatally shot in their home early Monday morning have been identified, and authorities have ruled the deaths as homicides. Christopher Lopez, 37, died from a gunshot wound to the face, while his partner, Trinette Rayson-Lopez, 34, sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including two to the head.

The tragic incident occurred just after 5 a.m. on Bent Springs Lane in a residential neighborhood near Mason Road and Clay Road. A call to emergency services was made by one of the couple’s adult children, who reported that both parents had been shot and were unresponsive upon arrival.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded swiftly, but sadly, the couple was pronounced dead at the scene. Law enforcement officials reported that Lopez was found near the main living area, while Rayson-Lopez was located close to the kitchen. During the incident, two adult children and a 7-year-old relative were asleep upstairs but fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
