RICHMOND, Va. – A tragic shooting on St. John Street in Richmond has left a 16-year-old boy dead and a man injured, according to a statement released by the Richmond Police Department. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, April 14th, when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of St. John Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found both the man and the 16-year-old victim, who was identified as a resident of Richmond, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. While the man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the teenager succumbed to his injuries and tragically passed away.
Authorities have indicated that the cause and manner of the 16-year-old’s death will be determined by the medical examiner.
