Shooting Investigation Progressing in Jackson: New Details Emerge in Quintavious McCray Case

Jackson, Mississippi – The investigation into a fatal shooting in Jackson is making progress following the death of Quintavious McCray on North Flag Chapel Road. According to Detective Tommie Brown, the case has expanded to over a mile with connections to four different locations. McCray succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital. The police have received new information, indicating a potential connection to a stolen vehicle, although McCray’s family disputes this claim.

McCray’s mother, Kami McCray, expressed her disbelief at the narrative being presented, stating, “My baby was shot down at that store, and for them to lie on him and say that he stole a car and wrecked it and died at the hospital, that really hurt me because that’s not what happened.” To clarify the situation, McCray’s mother spoke with Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade, who confirmed that the shooter remains unidentified.

Chief Wade described the chaotic scene, noting a stolen vehicle nearby and witnesses who may have information about the incident. Additionally, another individual involved in the situation was hit in the head with a brick, leading to their release from the hospital. Authorities are currently seeking to speak with this individual to determine their role in the events that transpired.

In the midst of the turmoil, there were reports of individuals in black vehicles firing shots near the location of the shooting. The police are diligently working to ascertain McCray’s potential involvement with the stolen vehicle, seeking to verify the initial information that suggested his connection. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477 (TIPS) or reach out to the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 for assistance in the case.
