Shooting outside Arlington gentlemen’s club leaves one dead, suspect released

Arlington, Texas – A man involved in a shooting outside a gentlemen’s club in Arlington that left one person dead and another injured was taken into custody by the police but was subsequently released without facing any criminal charges at this time, according to officials.

The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of Majesty Drive, where officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Abel Alberto Rodriguez, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 40-year-old man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities disclosed that the suspected shooter, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended at the scene by law enforcement officers. It is believed that the altercation stemmed from a confrontation between the 40-year-old victim and the suspect, with whom he had past conflicts, leading to a verbal dispute outside the establishment.

Subsequently, Rodriguez, a friend of the 40-year-old, intervened in the altercation, resulting in shots being fired shortly after the verbal exchange took place. A firearm was recovered near the 40-year-old, prompting investigators to consider the possibility that the shooting may have been an act of self-defense.

Following consultations with the Tarrant County district attorney’s office, the decision was made not to press criminal charges against the suspected shooter on Sunday. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that transpired that fateful night.
