Shooting Over Loud Music Results in Tragic Death of Orlando Man, Neighbor Arrested

ORLANDO, Fla. — A fatal shooting in Orange County has left one man dead and another in custody, with authorities stating the incident stemmed from a dispute over loud music.

The incident occurred on January 21 when Arnold Rapatalo, 38, was shot in the chest after allegedly confronting his neighbor about excessive noise coming from his home. According to investigators, the argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, culminating in Rapatalo being fatally wounded.

Michael Anthony Thrasher Jr., identified as the alleged shooter, was arrested a week later. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Thrasher at the scene, knocking on Rapatalo’s door and voicing complaints about the loud music. Investigators indicated that Thrasher attempted to force his way inside, leading to a struggle before he fired his weapon.

In the aftermath, family members expressed their shock and grief. “An argument over loud music? It just feels heartbreaking to know this is how he died,” Rapatalo’s uncle remarked. Friends and relatives described Rapatalo as a dedicated Navy veteran who had recently relocated to Orlando from New York.

Adralyn Apologista, Rapatalo’s mother, spoke of her devastation. “I’m heartbroken. I can’t believe Arnold’s gone already… I’m really going to miss him so much.” His younger brother, Kim Apologista, echoed these sentiments, sharing that Rapatalo was heavily involved in the running community and known for his generosity and willingness to help others.

While neighbors reported previous complaints regarding the volume of music coming from Rapatalo’s residence, many were taken aback by the violent turn of events. One witness recalled seeing paramedics administering CPR shortly after the gunfire erupted.

Thrasher’s history raises concerns, as court documents indicate he faced legal troubles in the past, including a conviction for domestic violence in 2021. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly on probation for a previous offense.

Rapatalo’s body is scheduled to be transported to New York, where his family will hold funeral services and a celebration of his life. “As a family, we’re trying to stay strong and communicate with one another during this challenging time,” his brother added.

The tragedy highlights the potential consequences of seemingly minor disputes escalating into irreversible actions, leaving loved ones to pick up the pieces in the wake of violence.
