Shooting Rampage Ends in Tragedy: Suspect Kills One Before Self in Lampasas County

Killeen, Texas – The Killeen Police Department, Copperas Cove Police Department, and the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department are currently working together on an investigation into a shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and the suspect taking their own life in Lampasas County, as reported by KPD.

The tragic event unfolded when KPD officers responded to a call at around 2:48 p.m. in the 6300 block of Taree Loop in southwest Killeen. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds, yet the suspect was not present at the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

Following the incident, the suspected shooter contacted 911 authorities to report the situation. Copperas Cove Police later located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in Lampasas County. Despite their attempts to engage with the suspect, the individual refused to exit the vehicle and ultimately inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound, KPD confirmed.

It is important to note that no law enforcement officers discharged their weapons during the course of events. The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Rangers are now spearheading the investigation into the fatality in Lampasas County. Authorities have disclosed that names of the victims will not be released until their next-of-kin have been notified.
