Akron, Ohio – One person was tragically killed and 24 others were injured in a mass shooting that occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday. Authorities in Akron have issued a plea for witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the incident.
The shooting took place during a street party in the city, where multiple victims were struck by gunfire. Emergency services were quickly alerted as victims began arriving at local hospitals with gunshot wounds. Captain Michael Miller of the Akron police stated that a total of 25 victims were affected by the shooting, with some in critical condition and others sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
Among the victims was a 27-year-old man who tragically lost his life, confirmed Akron Police Chief Brian Harding. The authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased individual.
In response to the incident, Mayor Shammas Malik emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that those responsible for the violence will face the full extent of the law. Three agencies have come forward to offer rewards totaling $22,500 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect involved in the shooting.
