CAPE CORAL, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded in Cape Coral Sunday night, as a 15-year-old girl lost her life in a shooting incident. The perpetrator(s) responsible for this heinous act are still at large, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The Cape Coral Police Department disclosed that the shooting occurred at the intersection of SE 20th Street and SE 16th Place shortly before 10 p.m. The victim, identified as Kayla Rincon-Miller, sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital. Despite efforts to save her, Rincon-Miller tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Prior to the shooting, Rincon-Miller and two other girls had just finished watching a movie at the Coralwood 10 movie theater. As they were making their way to a McDonald’s on Del Prado Blvd. South, a car approached them and blinded the girls with its lights. The suspect(s) then attempted to rob them, leading to the fatal shooting of Rincon-Miller in the chest by an individual who emerged from the vehicle.
Following the shooting, the perpetrator fled the scene in the same vehicle. Rincon-Miller was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she tragically passed away.
