MILWAUKEE — A 16-year-old charged in a shooting that resulted in the death of a teenager and injuries to five others has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Romello Littlejohn, who pleaded guilty to multiple felonies, received the sentence on January 23 and will serve an additional 20 years of extended supervision following his release.
Court documents reveal Littlejohn was found guilty of one count of first-degree reckless homicide, along with charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and four counts of first-degree reckless injury. A jury rendered its verdict in December, confirming his involvement in the violent incident that took place on March 20, 2023.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of 15th and Concordia, leading to the death of 15-year-old Davion Patterson, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Five women, aged 18 to 22, were also hospitalized after the attack. Witnesses reported that approximately 30 bullet casings were recovered from the scene, suggesting that two separate firearms were used during the shooting.
Evidence from the investigation indicated that tensions had escalated prior to the gunfire. Several witnesses informed authorities about an impending fight that evening, reportedly sparked by a dispute involving a romantic interest. During the confrontation, Littlejohn was alleged to have threatened individuals involved, further complicating the scene as the violence erupted.
After the incident, Littlejohn initially denied being present during the brawl, but later changed his account, admitting he was at the scene. He confessed to possessing a firearm, although he denied firing it and claimed he merely shot into the air. A text message found on his phone stated, “I shot,” illuminating the contradiction in his statements.
Following the shooting, investigators pieced together witness accounts that identified Littlejohn as one of the individuals firing into the crowd. Court filings detailed how testimonies emphasized his reckless actions that led to the tragic outcome.
