Shot and Killed: Rewards Offered in Investigation of Sharmeethia L. Mason’s Death

Phenix City, Alabama – Phenix City police are seeking the public’s help in the investigation of the tragic death of Sharmeethia L. Mason, a 36-year-old woman who was shot and killed in June 2021 on the front porch of her 11th Avenue residence. Central Alabama Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the case.

“It has been three years since this senseless fatal shooting occurred, and investigators, along with the victim’s family, are still searching for answers,” Crimestoppers mentioned on a recent statement. Police responded to reports of a shooting at the apartment on 11th Avenue, where they found Mason with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified individual walking around the corner of the victim’s apartment before shooting her while she was sitting on her front porch. The suspect fled on foot, leaving behind multiple shell casings at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, with Crimestoppers urging anyone with information to come forward.
