Staged Attack: Former Congressional Aide Charged After Orchestrating Violent Hoax with Self-Inflicted Injuries

Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey — A former congressional aide is facing significant legal trouble after being charged with fabricating a violent assault against herself. Authorities allege that Natalie Greene, 26, staged the incident in July, leading to multiple counts of conspiracy and making false statements to law enforcement.

Greene, who previously worked for Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew, purportedly orchestrated a scenario where she was attacked by three men. A co-conspirator called emergency services to report the incident, claiming that the attackers not only knew Greene’s name but also referenced her employment status. This alleged assault took place while Greene and the co-conspirator were walking through a nature preserve.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Greene in a wooded area, bound with black zip ties. Disturbingly, she had sustained numerous cuts across her body, with phrases such as “TRUMP WHORE” scrawled on her stomach and “Federal Official 1 IS RACIST” written on her back. Greene was reportedly distressed, claiming that at least one assailant had threatened her with a firearm.

However, an exhaustive investigation by the FBI soon unraveled the truth. Contrary to Greene’s account of the events, authorities discovered that she had visited a body modification artist before the incident, paying $500 for the deliberate cuts on her body. Evidence included a receipt from the artist’s studio in Pennsylvania and a signed waiver, which further pointed to her premeditated actions.

Moreover, investigators found matching black zip ties in Greene’s vehicle, similar to those used to restrain her. Even more suspicious was the revelation that, two days prior to the alleged attack, her co-conspirator had made an online search for “zip ties near me.”

Charged with conspiracy to convey false statements and making false statements to federal law enforcement, Greene could face up to a decade behind bars if convicted. She appeared for her first court hearing recently and was released on a $200,000 unsecured bond, pending further proceedings.

This case has raised questions not only about Greene’s motives but also about the implications of false reporting on real cases of violence and the resources expended by law enforcement.
