Subway Shooting Leaves One Dead in Chicago’s Chatham Neighborhood

CHICAGO, IL – A tragic incident unfolded at a Subway restaurant in Chatham on Thursday night, resulting in a man being fatally shot. Chicago police reported that the victim was shot in the head by an unidentified assailant at the Subway located on West 79th Street around 11:40 p.m. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the shooter managed to flee before law enforcement arrived.

Authorities disclosed that neither the victim nor the suspect were employees at the Subway establishment. The circumstances surrounding the relationship between the victim and the shooter remain unclear, as does the motive behind the heinous act. The restaurant’s manager speculated that the victim may have come from the adjacent gas station.

A regular customer who frequents the restaurant with her grandson shared her disbelief, highlighting the unsettling nature of the incident on 79th Street.
