Hangzhou, China — A 30-year-old woman has defied the odds after surviving a brutal knife attack, an incident that highlighted her resilience and an unexpected life-saving factor: her breast implants. The attack occurred on May 22 at The MixC Shopping Mall in Zhejiang province, where the victim, referred to only by her surname Ma, was ambushed while entering her vehicle.
Witnesses say the assailant forced his way into Ma’s car, brandishing a knife. Despite her desperate cries for assistance, bystanders in the parking lot failed to intervene. The attacker demanded that Ma pay for parking and forced her to drive to Tongxiang, a nearby county, all the while threatening her life. He also pressured her to request money from her friends, keeping a close watch on her phone and bank account.
In a moment of desperation, Ma managed to send a text message to her boyfriend, who used her phone’s location to alert the authorities. While police responded promptly to the situation, they arrived just as the attacker turned on Ma, stabbing her 22 times in the chest before inflicting fatal wounds on himself.
Remarkably, medical personnel later reported that the breast implants absorbed much of the knife’s impact. Ma recounted the ordeal, noting that most of the stab wounds were deflected, with only one penetrating her lung. “I had undergone breast augmentation in the past, and the implants blocked what could have been a fatal blow,” she stated. Although Ma has since been discharged from the hospital, she has voiced concerns regarding the handling of the case by local authorities.
